My name is Matthew Sutton and I am a junior studying Environmental Engineering. My parents had a hard time getting me to stay still when I was growing up. I always wanted to be outside and active. It didn’t matter if I was swimming in the ocean, going for hikes, or just climbing on some tree that caught my attention. The older I became the more I realized I wanted to give back to the community by creating a better environment for people to enjoy. Upon coming into college, Environmental Engineering stuck out to me as a major I wanted to pursue. Working to heal the environment around us to create a clean, sustainable, and fulfilling life became a dream of mine and a source of inspiration that I follow to this day. ASCE became a great stepping stone in that goal. It’s more than just a club, because it pushes you to do better in all aspects of your life. From personal growth, to taking classes more seriously, to developing new interests, the ASCE family has been there to see it. They have been supportive of me when I needed it and I hope to do the same for them as Executive Assistant for the 2017-2018 school year.
