Hey, my name is Elainey Fetene and I am currently a junior at San Diego State University. I was born and raised in a diverse, low-income community in southeast San Diego. Since high school, I knew that I wanted to help improve the lives of those who lived in lower-income communities and developing nations by updating crumbling infrastructure, designing cost effective and sustainable structures and much more. Since I enjoyed math and science so much, I felt that it was fitting for me to peruse a degree in Civil Engineering. As the Social Events Chair, it is my job to plan fun social events that encourage bonding amongst the members and officers of the chapter. These events include barbeques, beach days, movie nights, and more! What I love most about the chapter is how easy it is to get involved and make a difference in the organization. I have made amazing, lifelong friends with the people in ASCE as well as important connections with professionals in the industry. ASCE is not just an ordinary student organization. It is a home for people who are dedicated and passionate about creating a better world.
